This guy. Every damn year. He's on the mend! He's coming back! Then, oh he had a setback. Out for tonight's game. I tried hard to trade Malkin in the off-season, and then had a deal in place during this season but just couldn't pull the trigger because I felt like I wasn't getting full value for a guy who was top 5 in scoring. He helps lift me into the playoffs every year and then every year, he disappears for the actual playoffs... frustrating as hell.

Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but could it be that the Pens are giving him longer time off than necessary since there's no real "need" to rush him back? After all, what do they gain by 3-5 extra games played from Malkin in February?

I would think it's gotta be something pretty serious if he's been out this long past the all-star break.

I agree with this, sorta. The Pens are probably giving him extra time off because they're in a playoff spot and want to rest Malkin. I'm sure something is nagging him, but they're being extra cautious because he constantly aggravates things late in the season. Why risk it?
