The only surprise here, should be that... wait... there's no surprise. It's the end of January. Time for Malkin to miss 10-15 games ROS.

Wonder if this isn't a "strategic" injury.
If a player doesn't attend to ASG, he's suspended 1 game (without salary).
If a player is injured before the ASG, he's allowed to skip it.
So...
Missing 1 game before the ASG (paid because injured) or suspended 1 game after the ASG (without salary)...
Just me trying to find a way to bend the rules...

I would guess it's more of a break for him as well. Don't want another injury riddled second half.
I agree with Trefle's line of thinking. Strategic sit by him and the team.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
Let's hope it is a strategic decision. It wouldnt be the first time he was sat for a game that turned into ROS.

I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league
Malkin will be fine, and the reason is simple. I don't own him in fantasy this season. I owned him in 2010-11, 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16. Total combined games missed in those four seasons = 99. Total combined games missed in his other five full seasons = 26. Case closed.

I've been thinking his durability this season has been too good to be true. Hopefully the break means enough to rest that only the one game is missed.
$9.5M reason to have your face make an appearance at the All-Star game. These strategic decisions are weak sauce.
- I said... "God damn this tablet is heavy!"
Sounds like he's out today and questionable for the weekend:

They just put in on IR to activate Letang. Not sure when he can come back now given the retroactive games.
Good God. I've heard this song before and I HATE IT! Is this going to be the fourth year in a row where Geno sinks me?
