What if the AAV was really good, like around $5 million. Would an 8-year deal be OK then?
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

That would make Radulov 40? No thanks... anything over 5 years I wouldn't like for Mtl.

One would think 5 years $30 million would be a very generous contract for him.

Is it surprising his agent asked for 8 years? Did you guys expect him to start negotiating at 2 years?

    Not surprised at all.
Push for the max, see what you get.

Radulov's agent is in the position of strength.
    That's just how negotiations go.

Any team giving Radulov 8 years is in for some serious disappointment down the road IMO...

He is on pace for 59 points at age 30. Where will he be at age 38?

I would not give him more than 3 years, 18M. He's never shown the stability worth an 8-year deal. No way. If he doesn't want it, he can walk.

What's hurting his value now is all these injuries & missed games... question is, can he handle an 82 game schedule over a longer term contract. That would be my biggest ?? right now.

    Zero's got a good term & # 3/18 - although I think they meet in the middle at 5yrs.

    http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/r...act-canadiens/

I think MTL Canadiens let this info go threw in the media on purpose....they want everybody to think he wants 8 years at 8M per so that MB can sign him 3-4 years at 5.75M and look like a genius....then he saves his job for 1-2 more years....

    A good read.

    http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/q...diens-chances/

Earlier this month it had been reported that the impending free agent Montreal forward was seeking an eight-year contract extension from Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin.

During a lengthy interview with Sportsnet earlier this week, the 31-year-old was asked again if it was true.

    “That was bulls—,” he said.

“I’m not going to lie to you. I would be happy to have a contract for eight years, but it’s not realistic and it’s not what I’m asking for. I wasn’t even asking for anything, because I’m trying to play the whole season and see what happens.”

Cool. I still give him no more than 6M and maybe 5.5. The guy has 50 pts, not 70.
