Sorry to say but I think you're overvaluing him a smidge.

I am not sure what gives you the impression he will be a top 3 goalie in the league but I think your future evaluation is a tad rich.

A bold prediction, I agree. But not outlandish.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "outlandish" is.

I think you are on your own out there thinking he will be a top 3 goalie in three years though.

I'm in a league with daily starts that requires five starts/week, and he's getting me quality starts at a rate about 1.5/week recently so I can justify holding him for the time being. Plus, not to wish ill on the man, but Rinne is aging and has the history of the extended injury to consider.

But in a league with weekly starts I couldn't justify it.

I like his upside a lot, in a keep 13, I'm stashing him on my bench as a number three right soon. I did the same with hellboy two years ago. Bishops contract being up has me scared he will be too expensive to keep next year. Also, where will he be? I can more easily find another full time goalie to draft.

Saros has done well at every level and I expect him to continue that in the NHL. Top 3? Probably not, but he has starter potential on a playoff team for sure.

I have him stashed in my roto league. J. Howard went on IR and I picked him up.

The best we can wish for now is,

He keeps playing strong and gets a few more starts via the coach speak of " he has earned this game with his play" or "keeping Rinne fresh for the playoffs" etc

Rinne goes down and then you are happy you stashed him. But, hold your breath on this as he has started 60+ games last two years.

    Love me some juicy fruit.

The kid is a beauty and a gamer. His anticipation and reflexes are superb and as others have stated, he's pretty well dominated every level at a young age.

I think it's possible we see another Matt Murray-MAF situation if Rinne completely falls apart or succumbs to an (un)timely injury - depending on how you look at it.

Realistically, he steals maybe 30 starts next year, maybe a timeshare with the net up for grabs the year after and then the crease is his for 2019-2020.

I just got offered Ghost+ for him to give an indication of how some other knowledgeable folks fancy him longterm.

Small sample size for sure with Saros, but I've liked what I've seen from him. In many ways, his stature has helped him develop his technical game, as it's extremely refined even at 21. But it's very difficult for young goaltenders to break into the NHL, as we're seeing from Vasilevskiy and Hellebuyck. Even an elite goaltender in Price had some ups and downs, and didn't really establish himself as elite until 26.

I would love for a guy his size to become an elite goaltender though.

I'm holding 4 goalies in a league where 3 is the norm just because I can't bear letting this kid go....
