I like what I'm seeing from Sweden so far too.
What are peoples general thoughts on Eriksson-Ek as a prospect?
Clayton Keller is the best player in the tournament
Some quick thoughts about the first 3 games:
1) Sweden has a really good team, they looked great (although it was against very easy opponent but sometimes it's difficult to play against clear underdogs).
2) I was surprised to see that the two returning players on team USA (White and McAvoy) were wearing 'A' while Kunin got the 'C'. But Kunin was great in the game and really showed his leadership; creating offensive chances, killing penalties, blocking shots etc. - such a great game from a very good player. His NHL certainty seems to be very high, and I also like his offensive skills.
3) Juuso Välimäki outplayed Olli Juolevi. I thought Juolevi would be the clear-cut #1 'D' on Team Finland but they have him playing on the 2nd pair, and I could see why; Välimäki is playing better than him right now.

Kunin had a ton of chances in the US game. Latvia kept it close but thats only because their goalie held them in it. Their offense was non-existent.
Swedes looked strong but most expected that. They can run three scoring lines with ease.

Jost looks like Canada's best player so far. Barzal looking good as well.
Tyson Jost looks to me like the best player so far.
I may be a bit biased but I like Barzal over Jost so far.
I haven't really noticed any Russians

Jost started strong then Barzal took over for the second half. Also really taking an interest in the play of Myers.
Where is Rubstov?
I was also impressed by the Czech team. Improved each period against the Fins.
Looked to to me like the Swedes let up in the 3rd and it cost them a shutout.
Didnt see see all of the US game.
Would have been nice to see Dubois stand out a little more. He looked a little slow.
Russia gonna hurt. As in, others going forward.

I only managed to watch the 1st period of Canada's game before I fell asleep but Jost and Myers impressed me during that time. From Russia, I only really noticed Sergachev.
Some interesting TOI numbers for some players on Team Canada. Michael McLeod with only 2:59. Jeremy Lauzon with only 4:32. It looks like Chabot is the #1 'D' as expected with 24:11 but what's interesting is that Myers took over the #2 spot (I thought it would be Juulsen), and Bean took the minutes I thought would go to Lauzon.
Ingram starts tonight for Canada.

Hart made a few good saves but certainly looked shaky at times as well. That 3rd goal was soft as hell. I dont know what it is with Canada's goalies the past few years. They just don't give off the warm and fuzzies and seem soft. Maybe it's because they dont get a lot of shots during the game but man, they can give fans a mild heartattack when the play is in Canada's end.Small-town goalie Connor Ingram gets his big chance for Canada http://fw.to/aVWaSac (vid)
Hopefully Ingram can look better tonight, albeit against a weaker opponent.

Is it really a "big chance" if you play against the weaker team on a back-to-back situation?
Very few goalies at the U20 level give you the 'warm and fuzzy' feeling like elite goalies do. Goalies take longer to develop, so they are slightly behind the skaters in their development. That's part of what makes the tournament so funny to watch. Canada just seems to be the only country that's always throwing their goalies under the bus whenever there's a chance to do that.
