    Default Subban in cap league?

    9M guy.....should I try to sell him?

    Had an offer:

    Subban (9M)
    Zibanejad (2.625M)

    For

    Hamilton (5.75M)
    Granlund (3M)

Just wondering if Subban at 9M should be a keeper anyway?

Subban is expensive but he's one of the best D-men in the world. I would probably keep him over Hamilton but it's close because of the salary difference. The contracts given to e.g. Hedman and Ekblad tell me that the salaries of elite D-men are going to increase, so Subban's contract doesn't look too bad in a couple of years.

I would probably try selling someone like Parise if you need cap space.

    This is fantastic advice.

I'm in several salary cap leagues and I own P.Kane, Subban and Ovechkin (in two of them). You make room for your high end guys and find savings elsewhere. Toews is an example of why salary cap leagues suck. One of the best players in real hockey, but in a cap league, he's likely available as a FA.

I probably wouldn't make that deal you mentioned, I like Hamilton, but I don't like the Granlund for Zibanejad part very much. Zibanejad was looking pretty sweet in NY before he got injured. I'm with Jouko-Pouko in dropping easy Parise if you need cap space. I doubt there would be a market for Parise via trade.

Agree with the others - I make cuts elsewhere even if he is underwhelming so far this year

I own Subban in my main cap league, and that's one where he costs 11M because it's salary and not AAV. So to reiterate what the others said, your good players are what you have to spend money on, and you find some decent deals elsewhere.
You're also not even saving all that much money from the deal you're making, and it's a big downgrade talent wise. I do agree with trading Parise as he is an anchor.
