Default LG G5 cell phone. Who has one?

So I am looking at possible upgrade options and I am considering the LG G5. Who here has one and what do you think of it. I am kind of turned off from Samsung so I am looking at other options.

i haven't heard a tonne of great reviews about the G5, lot of people say it's similar to the G4 (the older version)

personally if avoiding samsung i'd go with the following depending on your budget:

pixel - best android phone available right now if $$$ don't matter

nexus 6p - great specs but still expensive but not as expensive as the pixel.

nexus 5x - mid range affordability, very good specs as long as you dont need the latest bells and whistles

nexus 6 - "cheapest" option, best value phone if you don't mind the size. currently the phone i have. great for browsing since it's a huge form factor but obviously not great for portability or keeping in your pocket.

those are just a few options, best bet is to read reviews on them as they will provide you more info.

or you can google nexus 6p vs nexus 5x (for example) to see the pros/cons to each.

if i'm buying today i'd go with the 5x or the 6p if i had a bit more money to spend.

I had the g4 and recently (found) a Samsung s6 and I was considering going back to my old g4.

The g5 from what I see is pretty stellar. I wouldn't definitely consider going with the LG. Their phones are simple and easy to use.

I originally went with the g4 for two reasons. Bigger battery and better camera and pretty cheap. The battery life was great and I could get about a day and a half on it.

    Sorry. Would definitely consider it.

I like the fact that the battery is removalble. And you can insert different things in the battery slot.

The camera is a big feature for me and the LG seems to have a good one.

LG G5 is a waste of money apparently compared to the G4. I had an LG G2, went to an S6 and lost it at the casino (Mr. Guru you have my phone?!), and was split between the G4 and G5. Did some research and found the biggest upside to the G5 was the add-on like camera and battery packs. But with LG only making the accessories compatible for the G5 they were overpriced. I went with the G4 and love it. I heard nothing bad about the G5 performance and the physical features tho, just that the biggest bonus to a G5 was the overpriced accessories.

I doubt I would spend any money on the add-ons like the camera or speakers from LG, although the option of having a second battery to switch out is a nice bonus. That was one of the main reasons I was looking at the G5; that and apparently the camera is excellent.

But if you could get either for the same price, why wouldnt you go with the G5?

Same price go for it. The only physical difference I think is that G5 is a metal body and the G4 is a plastic/leather back body. The leather back is a nice feel. But the Metal body prolly feels sturdier in your hand.

    LG G-series are great phones.

My Nexus 7 Android is on the fritz and ~7 years old. Looking to get a new one. Any thoughts out there that haven't already been said?

And what's your thoughts on 'buying the phone straight up' or taking 'the plan @ 2 years etc'? Think my phone was pricey for two years but then dropped once it was paid off. I'm likely around $60 month for the cell phone.

Don't need lots of bells whistles - use for texts primarily and internet while on wifi at home.

If you're interested in ditching the overpriced flagship phones for a "budget" model, I highly recommend the Moto G5+

I ended up going with the G5 and it's been a great phone for the past 11 months. Not sure if the G6 is as good or not but I enjoy my phone.
