To be honest, I can't believe someone would offer so much for one player (even though Saros would be included). Not sure I'd be able to decline that offer either but considering you did already, and he is willing to give up so much to begin with, I'd try and pry another piece off of him. By the sounds of it, this guy will give up just about anything to make this deal happen. Curious to know if trades have ever been vetoed in this league, because I wouldn't be surprised if your league mates or commissioner put the kibosh on this trade.

That's some high praise! I'm the commissioner of the league and we haven't ever had a veto.. that said there recently has been a re-defining of what a vetoable trade should look like. We left it at collusion of under-handedness.. but since there have been some mammoth trades that have throw the balance out the window (yes I was usually apart of those trades) I could see some trades getting nixed in the future to maintain integrity.

So he's still there with that offer, has batted around adding further players on both ends to continue to weigh more on my side. It's just that I may be at the point where no offer is really good enough. I don't need the depth and to have McDavid locked up is the best I can hope for in a single roster spot.

I am a weak man when it comes to blockbusters though.. so if he pops Laine or Eichel on top I don't see how I could say no.

While not assured, we did have discussions as a league to have a reset down to 5 keepers every 10th season. We're currently on season #4 but with some lack of parity around the league that may get bumped to occur to start the 2020-21 season (8th season).

We're stuck at two offers from him..

Tarasenko, Gaudreau, Werenski, Murray and a 1st for McDavid and Saros

or

Eichel/Laine, Tarasenko, Gaudreau, Werenski for McDavid.

I've held off though.. The image of McDavid popping 120+ points and averaging 5.5+ fantasy points a game in my league is so difficult to erase. Adding 3 guys capable of 3.5/game is great, but maximizing that keeper spot is a huge point for me.

If he comes around and puts Eichel/Laine in with first offer, I'll wheel it out as I think that's a slam dunk. He doesn't want to move Murray AND one of Eichel and Laine (his three untouchables) He's cool putting one and then smashing it up with Tank/Gaudreau/OEL/Werenski and the like.

I admire your patience and attitude. It's no wonder you've constructed the team you have now. Hold off until he adds that final piece in Eichel or Laine, seems like it's just a matter of time. This trade will be a victory for all of us.

He's still on the table if I choose, he's actually cheaper than Werenski, but I'm leaning towards the teenager.

Here's hoping I can bring this victory home! At the same time, I'm pretty darn content to keep McDavid around. Limitless potential is a rare thing.
