Eeven with LTIR for Despres and Tokarski and Etem off the books, I still think a trade is inevitable. Maybe it won't be Fowler or Vatanen that they trade, but it makes sense to deal one of those two because they can't protect all three of their stud dmen during the expansion draft.

They can get through this by doing something minor now and waiting till later for a larger-scale move.

Theodore is so being sent down.

yeah, it sure seems that way. They need the salary savings, he can be send down without having to clear waivers, and with Lindholm they now have too many dmen on the roster.

Well... if Rakell is about to start playing - wouldn't/couldn't they demote a forward?
    Cramarossa is $724k.
    Sgarbossa is $600k.

A lot of NHL teams are carrying 8D these days.
Holzer might be waived too... don't see why they'd need him over Theodore.
And I can't see Holzer being coveted by anybody for a claim.

Long-term, yeah - the Ducks are going to want to keep probably 7F/3D, especially the way Silfv has been playing - he's a keeper.
Thus, if they are keeping Lindholm/Vatanen/Bieksa(NMC)... then Fowler is lost anyways, so might as well trade him.
I think NJ is a great fit for Fowler - though I'm not sure what NJ would offer in return.

So many ripple effects created by this - Anaheim, Winnipeg, wherever an Anaheim assets is traded to (if a trade occurs).

What do we expect from lindholm now this year? I had him down for a big year but he's likely not in game shape yet and may have less opportunity on the ppl with fowler doing so well. I know they didn't pay him that much to kill penalties but just wondering if we're a year away from the next step past 35 point pace wit dis guy.

He's still behind Fowler and Vatanen for PP time (and possibly Theodore), so possibly a 30 point pace all year with more EV scoring than anything

Lindholm's "real life" hockey value >>> Lindholm's fantasy hockey value.

If you want a likely comparison, think M.E. Vlasic. He won't be a Keith or Pietrangelo type because Anaheim will have plenty of bodies to deploy on the PP over Lindholm.

I hope so, but I'm not sure this will change what winds up happening in WPG too much. Certainly doesn't hurt the Jets' cause, though.

Great signing for the Ducks. Seems under Lindholm's true value.

I'm seeing on Capfriendly.com that the Ducks have LTIR-ed Nate Thompson ($1.6m).
So I guess that's the move that gets them under.

Good article I just read about the Ducks and Simon Despres.
    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...8b7bc58c984713
Despres $3.7m is on LTIR... but IF (/when?) he comes back this year, Ducks would be forced to move at least a $3.7m off their roster.

If that happens, it seems the Ducks would either:
    a) Trade away Fowler -which is likely in their 2016-2017 plan anyways, due to expansion requirements,
    b) Trade Despres+sweetener,
    c) Trade Bernier+sweetener).

They do have until Despres comes back to figure that out, though.
