Default Who to take for a 3rd goalie?

    FA's available:
Lehner, Greiss, Both DAL goalies, Both PHI goalies, Howard.

Howard has the most off night starts out of those guys.

    Thoughts?

Steve Mason would be my pick.

I would go with Howard because of the point you made, he has the most off-night games. Picking a 3rd string goalie with the most options to use him makes the most sense to me.

Mannnn those tandems are tough! I wanna say a Dallas goalie because Price and Rask should keep your other numbers down so taking a Dallas goalie shouldn't hurt.

    I'd go Lehtonen.

Howard probably doesn't have the most off night starts of those guys, as he's not the better goalie in Detroit, so he won't get the bulk of the starts.

I think I'd go Lehtonen, but ideally you want the guy who ends up in LA, whomever that is.

I'd go with Steve Mason. He's the best option there to get starts on the nights you need him as your third goalie.

I'd take Mason. He will also retain trade value as the season goes on.

Mason is the choice. He plays more off nights than the others. Will gEt more starts than Howard. Lehtonen hot, but it won' t continue. EB has it right.
