My biggest career knock on Kane is that he so often plays so fast he can't be a good player.
Head down, speed-rush, around the outside.
When it works, it's so "highlight" that we drool over him... but it's not really conducive to putting up stats that would stem from any passing.
Would've thought he wouldn't changed his style after all these years. Nope. Now - so fast he got injured.

NHL is all about pace play.
There's a ton of super-fast-skaters that never make it in the NHL... and reason why an inferior-knocked skater (like Tavares, or Jagr at his age) can still excel.

At least I only drafted E.Kane in a single, one-year league where he slid.
    Time to replace him.

New year, same ol Kane. Looks like he beat his personal best, a knee injury two days into the 2014-2015 season.

Cracked ribs are really nasty. Difficult to sleep on top of the pain from breathing. Pain killers help but there are issues with those as well.
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Agreed. As well, the thing about rib injuries and hockey, is that it's tough to protect while on the mend. Any solid body check if not fully healed could lead to easily re injuring the ribs. People can play through broken hands broken arms broken jaws etc if they aren't fully healed by protecting the injured part of the body with good armour. Tough to do that with ribs.

I actually want to bring this up again, because it has been 4 days and he's still listed in all formats as simply being "out". Everything I'm seeing from anywhere intimates that he's looking at another 2 weeks minimum, and another week or two of PT before he's reasonably going to be ready to play again, so why on earth would he not be moved to IR? It's not like the "7-days-before-play" rule is going to come up here.

Game providers move a player to IR when their NHL team moves them to IR. NHL teams only do it when there's a cap reason to do so. Doesn't seem like Buffalo is in any hurry, so don't hold your breath.

Cap reason or if they need to promote someone from their AHL team. That's the other reason to put players on IR, it creates a spot for someone else to be promoted.

Pretty much this reason is why I'm curious as to why the Jets aren't doing it. Giving a prospect a cup of coffee in the show for free is something you may as well do if you get the opportunity.

Teams usually have 2-3 scratched players, so they give those players some games as well. No player wants to be a healthy scratch for the entire year, they all want to play.

Didn't Stepan have BROKEN ribs last season and make it back in 3 weeks? Something tells me Kane will milk this for 2 months - plenty of time for him to post stupid things on social media.
