As long as the shot came to him straight on, he'll be fine.
Hopefully he didn't turn, though, and take it in a bone.

It's pretty rare that guys get severely injured from a slap shot to the leg.
As long as it didn't catch bone, it should just be a deep bruise.
Sometimes - if it happens at end of a practice, guy will just call it a day - avoid putting pointless pressure on it.
