How many teams, as of now, do not have a goalie to expose in the expansion draft outside of their starter? Here's a list of them by my quick count:
Buffalo
Calgary
Chicago (I can't see them offering Carruth a QO)
Minnesota
Montreal
Philadelphia
That's 6 teams who only have 1 goalie that they can currently expose in the waiver draft. June is a long time from now and a lot of contracts can be signed and a lot of players can move teams.
I can honestly say I did not know that. +1 to you!
The Jets operate as a small market team, always have (maybe that's part of the reason why he's so damn rich).
The OP's original question was:
He is just sitting there as a FA in my money league. I'm wondering what his chances might be of overtaking Pavelec or Hutchinson this season?
We can sit here and spit all we want but I am simply telling you what has been said by the pundits who are around the Jets more than any of us. The Jets are going to expose Hutchinson (the whole reason he got a two-year deal) in the expansion draft, Pavelec is the starter for the time being, and Hellebuyck will be starting in the AHL. He will come up if injuries occur. The Jets aren't playing fantasy hockey and as much as fantasy owners hope Hellebuyck gets the call sooner rather than later, they are simply going to have to be patient.
