I like Palat, he is surrounded by more talent as well which means better chance at succeeding.
Points this year will probably be similar. Looking to use one in a trade, who has the better year? We do play with the cap, so I'm leaning towards keeping palat. Any reason to keep Nyquist instead?

Not from where I sit. Palat actually ended last season with 20 points in his final 19 games and is poised to rebound well in 2016-17. Meanwhile, Nyqvist grew even farther removed from his 2013-14 season and it seems more and more like he won't be the fantasy force most envisioned. Oh, and Palat is younger to boot.

I want Palat for sure.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
I would say that both guys are locks for 50pts if they play close to 82 games and a good chance for more. Palat's best season was 63pts when everything was in place. I doubt he is able to surpass 65 on a given year so let's say that he repeats his 63 pts (16g-47a). Nyquist's best year came when he had 54pts in 82 games (27g-27a). Ok he had 48pts in 57 games the year before, but let's consider his highest total of 54pts, 27g, 27a.
In the league's format, just in goals and assists, Palat (63 pts) would have had 128pts for his goals and 329 for his assists (total = 457). Nyquist's 54pts would have him bank 216pts for his goals and 189 for his assists (total = 405). The way I see it, unless Nyquist is able to reach closer to 60pts, he won't be able to match Palat's higher point totals, even if he is a better goal-scorer.
I do think that Nyquist is able to hit 60+ and that last year was a fluke since it was a bad one for all Wings' forwards (Zetts was their best with 50pts!)
Palat's chances of hitting 60 are better than Nyquist but if you want the higher ceiling, go with Nyquist.

Players are close enough to consider them interchangeable. Palat has a stronger chance to reach 60, not saying he does but he could. If this is yahoo Nyquist is a LW/RW which there are very few players who have that option.
I took Palat, I had to think about it and really wanted to grab up any draft worthy LW/RW player I could, and they are very close in points. I took Palat believe it or not for SHP which killed me last year! If he gets 2-3 for me it will be worth passing on the LW/RW option.

I'd take Palat
Palat is the safer play but I'm intrigued by Nyqvist - especially as Detroit lost Datsyuk and Zetterberg aging - someone has to replace that output....

I could swear there was an article showing Nyqvist's production with Datsyuk in and out of the line up and I'm pretty sure he fared really really well when he was out... Nows the chance to do it full time...
Experience is the teacher of all things.
Well depends which Nyquist is the real one to you. The one who put up 48pts in 57 games in 2013-14, the one who put up 54pts in a full 2014-15 season or last year's 43 point flop in a full 82-game campaign?
I personally think that he has it in him to be a 70pt player. Maybe the realistic scenario is that he can find his game without Datsyuk eating up his opportunities and hover in the 60-69pts. I think if he doesn't get it going this year though, he may never get to live up to his rookie-year expectations.
