It's either Julien (because Neely is waiting for this for years now) or Therrien (more than half of his players don't want to play for him)...
Yeah, I should clarify that I don't think Tippett is in any danger of being fired. But has there been a coach more loved that has missed the season four straight years?

I'm not so sure about Torts. I don't believe that they let him run off RyJo last season unless they feel committed to riding the Torts Train for the foreseeable future.
To put it another way, would you let a coach that you're not so sure about run off your star player?

I agree with several of you here Torts will go and probably Therrien as well.
Tortorella. I'm not sure Therien will be canned because MB seems to like him very much and he (MB) wants stability, which is something that was lacking when he (MB) became GM.
With a week left before the season opens up, I thought I would revive this thread. I'll definitely update again once the first coach falls.

I posted a whole bunch of names earlier on in the thread, but I'll cut my list down a bit. I'd say Therrien, Julien, Capuano and Tortorella are on the shortest leashes. I don't think Therrien gets fired though because Price will save his ass again and again, but the hypothetical leash is short there nonetheless. If I had to pick one, I'll say Capuano goes first as I see the Isles being a disappointment out of the gates.

If Todd McClellan survives this season he'll be the longest serving Oilers coach of the decade... by default he needs to be included (regardless of reality)

The Hot Seat season is well upon us now, so I thought I would revive this thread about who Dobber Nation thought would be the first NHL coach to get canned this year before anyone actually gets fired.
A rough tally so far goes like this (keep in mind, some people put forth more than one name):
John Tortorella 13 mentions
Michel Therrien 12 mentions
Willie Desjardins 9 mentions
Jack Capuano 6 mentions
Claude Julien 6 mentions
Paul Maurice 3 mentions
Some of the other names mentiond were McClelland, Blashill, Carlyle, Ruff, Vigneault, Hitchcock, Tippett.
I think Therrien is safe (changed from my preseason prediction), and think Capuano is the most likely to go with the Islanders unable to score and mired near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
