Keeper - Gibson or Vasilevskiy

12 team league where we keep 10 players, goalie stats are WINS, GAA, and SAVE %. I have both Gibson and Vasilevskiy at base salaries which will enable me to keep them for 5 years, but I can only keep one. I had planned on keeping Gibson, but incoming trade offers on Vasilevskiy have me thinking twice. Gibson is finally in the starters position, but is injury prone. Vasilevskiy might be a write-off for this one year, but should also be in a starters role as early as this season's trade deadline (in TB or elsewhere).

My team is the defending champ, it is easier for me to have Gibson as a contributing player this year but I can draft an alternative if you guys persuade me to go Vasilevskiy. Whoever I don't keep I can trade, but I will want an excellent return because I really don't want to give either to a competitor at base salary.

If you're getting such good offers for Vas, then create the bidding war and take the best one. They shouldn't have vastly different careers. Plus, you're the champion now, so you want the player who is performing the best right now.

I'd try very hard to include Vasilevskiy in a package deal to improve your main roster (even if the gain is not very much) while keeping Gibson.

I would keep Gibson and trade Vas - if you are in compete now mode

I prefer Vasilevsky to Gibson so that's who I'd be retaining.

I don't want to divulge too much because I don't know who else is on these boards. I'm considering Scheifele and a mid round pick upgrade in my favor for Vasy. Just a question of if I like Scheifele more than my fringe keepers (Taylor Hall / James Neal / Sam Bennett / Jacob Trouba). Salary dictates who can be kept, how long we can keep them and the pick we forfeit, as of now my keepers are - Benn, Backstrom, Wheeler, RyJo, Landeskog, Burns, Subban, Gibson. I cannot keep Hedman, Phaneuf, Bishop but may be able to re-draft.
