I think he's got something left in the tank. Lots to prove after being pushed out in Van. Could be a great 3rd/4th line addition to the Flames.. Zero fantasy relevancy however.

Those obviously aren't lines, but those 9 guys are locked into the team. Sadly, Bollig probably is too.

So that leaves Higgins in a competition with Tkachuk, Shinkaruk, Ferland, Chiasson, and Vey for sure, all of which are younger and already have contracts, plus darkhorses like Jankowski, Klimchuk, Poirier, Pollock, Smith, Hathaway. I think if Higgins ends this PTO with a contract, a lot of players the Flames are hoping succeed have failed pretty miserably in camp.

that is why most veterans get PTOs. Teams want to push their young guys into wanting it so its a good test for their youngins

Higgins doesn't have anything left in the tank IMO. But never hurts to try.

Last year was rough but before that he was just below 0.5 points per game. Probably worth a 4th line or 13th forward spot.
