    Hey dobber community!

So, I have until this weekend to lock up my protection list for my pool.

Here's the rules: i need to keep 10 players. 6 need to go in a draft list. When our draft day comes, we can only lose 2 from that list, the other 4 come back to me. Finally, I can trash 4 players completely. We can also keep teams should we wish to.

Here's my list. What do you think? Would you do something differently?

    SAN JOSE (KEEP)
    DUCLAIR ANTHONY (KEEP)
    MARCHAND BRAD (KEEP)
    SKINNER JEFF (KEEP)
    KOPITAR ANZE (KEEP)
    PARISE ZACH (KEEP)
    VRBATA RADIM (KEEP)
    OSHIE T.J. (KEEP)
    WEBER SHEA (KEEP)
    STRALMAN ANTON (KEEP)
    NIEMI ANTTI (KEEP)
    ANDERSON CRAIG (KEEP)
    FISHER MIKE (DRAFT)
    GAGNER SAM (DRAFT)
    FRANSON CODY (DRAFT)
    ZIDLICKY MAREK (DRAFT)
    GIRARDI DANIEL (DRAFT)
    KUEMPER DARCY (DRAFT)
    DUPUIS PASCAL (DROP)
    PLOTNIKOV SERGEI (DROP)
    GOLDOBIN NIKOLAY (DROP)
    PETERS JUSTIN (DROP)

Thanks for all the help! Feel free to ask more questions if you want

    Thanks!

I agree fully with your 'Keepers'

I would consider putting Goldobin back into the draft instead of Kuemper, unless backup goalies have decent value in your league scoring.

No actually, I forgot to mention that the reason I have to leave Kuemper there is because our draft list must have at minimum 1 forward, 1 defenseman and a goalie who played at least 5 games last season, hence why I have him there.

I would need some more league info on this. Number of teams, scoring, how many players you start, etc

In a certain situation, there would be a case where I would put Niemi in the draft list, just straight out drop Kuemper, stick Goldobin on the draft list, and keep someone else (Likely Fisher or Girardi).

    It's rather simple.
    1G or 1A = 1 point.
    Goalies = Win = 2 points. G/A = 1 points too. 3 points for a shutout.
Teams = 2 points for the win and 1 for a draw.

After draft day, we have a total of 23 players in our team. Of these 23 players, the 9 forwards, 6 defensemen and goalie with most points are counted towards your total points. All the rest below that ranking don't count.

We don't count hits, PIMS our stuff like that.

    Hope it clears it up!

Past that I'm wondering how many teams are in your league?

We are at 20 teams as of now. That's why I have players like Dan Girardi and Sam Gagner. Our pool is so deep that in the later picks there's barely anything interesting left to pick from.

I figured it was a bigger league. Large enough that Niemi probably gets taken. So ignore my earlier comment, I would leave your goalies as is.

Best on that scoring I would want to try and retain young guys for my older depth so I would drop Kuemper (he won't post more points than both Anderson or NNiemi and out Goldbodin in the draft

I've never seen a hockey pool where you have a team. How does that work? Or am I completely missing what is meant by "[w]e can also keep teams should we wish to." and having SAN JOSE (KEEP) on your list.

Usually it is done instead of owning goalies, you own a team (their goaltending). This is slightly different. Basically it's just bonus points that are not player stat related. Just another wrinkle.

I think I would put Goldobin in your draft section, and drop the guy into the trash heap you want least coming back to you who isn't Kuemper that lets you fill position requirements.

That gives you a decent shot at getting Goldobin back.

Yes, I was going to probably do that change anyway since Marek Zidlicky seems to be an UFA and only registered 16 points last year. Instead of haing him burn up a slot in my draft list, I could most likely swap Goldobin with Zidlicky. On the other hand, SJ seems pretty deep on the LW side. Oh well, both cases, the player who fills that slot will most likely not do much for my team anyway.

    Thanks for the hint
