Default Do I Try and Get Bautista?

Just curious if I should invest in Jose Bautista on my team right now. It’s a keep 7, 10 team, H2H.
Batter Cats: R, HR, RBI, SB, Avg, OPS
    Pitchers: W, ERA, WHIP, K/9, QS, Sv+H

    C: Ramos
    1B: Rizzo
    2B: Prado (3B)
    3B: Donaldson
    SS: Correa
    CI: Lamb (3B)
    MI: Gregorious (SS)
    OF(4): Ozuna, Puig, Cespedes, Pence
    Util: Dahl (OF)
    DL: Aledmys Diaz (2B, SS)

SP (5): McCullers, Keuchel, Stroman, Jon Gray, Darvish, Arrieta, Kazmir, Greinke (DL)
    RP(2): Guerra (SP), Pomeranz (SP)
    P(2): Snell (SP), Moore (SP)
    DL: Harvey

So the loss of Diaz hurts a lot, he’s out likely 3-6weeks I think. So my weak MI/2B got weaker. The guy who owns Bautista is fire-sale mode (he’s not doing a good job, he’s not really answering trades) has asked me for my Ozuna, Puig for his Zobrist, Bautista. I wanna see if I can do Ozuna, Puig for Bautista, Segura.

For keepers I think I have a good foundation of Rizzo, Donaldson, Correa, Lamb, and Arrieta. And then Diaz, Ces, McCullers, and Ozuna make up a decent bottom keeper list. So the question is, is it worth me giving up Puig+Ozuna for Bautista+Zobrist(likely ask for picks back, but it wouldn’t be a big upgrade)/Segura?

    C: Backstrom, Stamkos, Little
LW: Skinner, Arvidsson (RW), Zetterberg (C), Kreider
RW: Tarasenko, Marner (C), Mantha (LW)
    D: Ristolainen, Klingberg, Rielly, Carlson

If you are not planning on keeping Puig or Ozuna, I would make this move. I think it helps your chances to win this year.

I would make that move ASAP. Not sure you can still pull it off though... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/dodgers...205448304.html

Ozuna is a solid player but Puig is just a name IMO (I don't think he can return to his numbers that he posted 2 years ago). Bautista had a rough stretch and should have a few more top years left in the tank. He is also an upgrade on your keepers. As for Zobrist or Segura, I'm indifferent.

    Point 1:
I think Ozuna could be a keeper for me; he bounces between 60-100 ranking because his HR totals I guess are borderline. Right now he’s up so it works out I can sell him high, but he’s a solid player. Puig, the way things are this season, isn’t a keeper for me. I took a chance on a trade and it hasn’t panned out.

    Point 2:
Puig is likely traded in the offseason (or even now still), but his days of being an MLB player aren’t over, that’s what I’m guessing this guy is hoping for. He’s tapped out for this yr, and is trying to go younger. And the news of the demotion is on Yahoo player updates so this guy knows that he’s demoted too.

I’m hoping for Segura because Zobrist hasn’t done much since the All-Star break.

    Thanks guys.

Go for Segura, but I take it either way. Hopefully Bautista finds his swing for the end of the season and next and it pays off for you.

Well good thing the GM declined the trade and said he’d be able to get a better offer.

And I'm assuming he didn't get a better offer?

No one wants to touch Bautista with a 10ft pole now. Won’t be a keeper on contending teams, and won’t help a contending team now.

I know. I got lucky and unloaded him for Bregman right at the end of July.

Intriguing now though especially if he only gets a short term deal. Lots of motivation to show he can still produce on the elite level. May be a very very buy low guy!

Depends how low though. Not sure I would want to be giving up much proven talent for him. The shoulder injury really took its toll on his ability to play like he was a few years ago.

Depends where he goes I’d say. His O-Rank is prolly going to drop into the 70s, and he could still walk and get a 4yr deal with a team.
