I think we can all agree that the last tour is bittersweet. I wish I was at least in the same hemisphere so I could have an outside chance at seeing them. Thankfully, I did see them once or twice back in the day. The Hip are a true Canadian treasure. I hold them close to me heart. It is quite uncommon for a band to stay together for 30+ years with no lineup changes. Just incredible. I feel blessed to have witnessed them live at the height of their power. The time that comes to mind, the Rheostatics (my fav band of all time) were on tour with them. I think it was the Trouble at the Henhouse tour. It was a magical concert. I will never for get it.

    Thanks boys!

The Hip have been my favourite band for close to 15 years. It's heartbreaking to hear about Gord's terminal illness. I always expected The Hip to be around for another 20 years or so and make new music/tour until they couldn't physically do it anymore. I still believe that's how it would have gone if they had the choice. I was fortunate enough to get a single ticket to Hamilton's August 16 show and I'm still currently searching for a Toronto ticket to any of the 3 shows (if someone could help me out?) Anyways, using the final tour's set list format, here is my dream set list....

    Nautical Disaster
    So Hard Done By

Honestly, I've been trying to compile a dream setlist here but in the end I really don't care what they play. I'm seeing them on the 10th in Toronto and I'm guaranteed to hear some of my all-time favourites. I'd love to hear some deeper cuts like "An Inch An Hour", "The Inevitability of Death", "700' Ceiling", "Cordelia", "Lionized", "Opiated"... I could go on forever... Every time I've seen The Hip has been a unique experience and a fantastic show, but I bet this one will be tops. I'll probably cry.

I only saw the Hip live once, and it was on the Fully Completely tour in June of '93 at Winnipeg Stadium - Another Roadside Attraction - Midnight Oil played right before them, pretty high-energy night all round.

Anyways, they played the entire Fully Completely album, plus all the best from the previous albums - that song is pretty emblematic of an amazing summer in my youth, heard it a lot.

I even almost got arrested after the concert. 21 years old and dumb as hell

Ha! Awesome. Been 21 and dumb as hell myself so I can relate.

Wow...Midnight Oil. There's a blast from the past. Nice!

I watched a bunch of clips of the farewell tour on You Tube last night. I shed more than one tear. At one point during Long Time Running I was a bit of a mess. I suspect that a lot of people will be quite emotional at the shows.

Just got back from the show in Edmonton tonight. WOW. That's all I can say. It was unbelievable and sad at the same time. The lady next to me was balling the whole time. This was about the 10th time I've seen them in concert and it was just as good as all the other shows. If you are a fan of the band, do what you can to get to one of their few remaining shows. If that isn't possible, be sure to watch CBC on August 20th when they are broadcasting the final concert.

Yup. I was right. Teared up big time during Fiddlers Green.

What a fantastic show though. Absolutely the best performance I've ever seen them put on.
