    (Pretty reliable source )

I'd say it's a good deal for Sens.

News Release: The #Sens have agreed to terms with forward @MHoffy68 on a four-year contract:
    http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=890152

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced today the club has agreed to terms with forward Mike Hoffman on a four-year contract which will run through the end of the 2019-20 National Hockey League season. The average annual value of the contract is $5.1875 million ($3.8M, $5.65M, $5.65M, $5.65M).

Hoffman, 26, established new statistical career highs in goals (29), assists (30), points (59) and penalty minutes (18) in 2015-16 while appearing in 78 of the team’s 82 regular-season contests. He led the Senators with nine power-play goals while ranking third among team forwards with 13 power-play points. Additionally, Hoffman also established new personal bests by recording at least one point in seven consecutive contests from Nov. 21 to Dec. 5, a span which featured his scoring at least one goal in four consecutive games for the first time in his career.

A native of Kitchener, Ont., Hoffman’s 29 markers saw him lead the Senators in goals for a second consecutive campaign while his final goal of the season, in a 5-3 home loss to Pittsburgh on April 5, saw him move into sole possession of 25th place among all-time Senators goal scorers. He’s the only player in the top 25 with fewer than 229 games played for the club.

The Senators first fifth-round selection (130th overall) in the of the 2009 NHL Draft, Hoffman has recorded 113 points (59 goals, 54 assists) and 36 penalty minutes over 186 career NHL contests with Ottawa.

I actually quite like this deal.. Interested to see if Hoffman nails it next season as he did show some really up and down spells last season

Nice to see him finally get a deal for what he's done/doing, rather than just another "show-me" deal. I am not sure there's much more he could have showed them.

Great deal for both parties. Hoffman is a late-emerging player. He's only been in the NHL for two years, but he is already 26. He is showing that he is capable of being a 30 goal scorer, but with a bit of an injury risk so he was smart to sign long-term even if it is slightly under market value.

From Ottawa's perspective, Hoffman, Turris, Stone, Ryan, and Brassard gives them the makings of two decent top lines. They don't have any superstar forwards, but they will be fine.

Yeah, good signing. They had to pay/reward this guy. Great for Hoffman, the Sens, and for the fans.

No, more than $5. I thought he was worth $5 million. It was basically $5 million he signed for.

Great deal if you're Big Ev with zero downside and perfect market value. Sens can do no wrong
