    Default Pick 2

For the team in my sig. I'm on my last two picks and have narrowed my options down to these 4 guys. What do you see as the ones with the highest upside? I'm in a position to wait it out so there's no hurry.

    Jake Guentzel - Pit
    Nicolas Aube-Kubel - Phi
    Ethan Bear - Edm
    Matthew Phillips - Cal

Guentzel could be playing with the Penguins next year. You are going to know what you have pretty quickly. The most NHL ready guy on the list.
Aube-Kubel has the pedigree and stats to back it up.

    .....................

Bear is a D and there are always prospect D available.
Phillips is 5'7 and drafted in 2016 (166OA). He is too far away to hold a roster spot.

Agreed with Moses. Guentzel is a quicker assessment over the next 6 months. I'd choose him.

The 2nd choice is between Aube-Kubel and Philips. I'd choose Kubel on pedigree alone - honestly, at this prospect level, you have to trust scouts over anything else and pedigree is a scout-driven metric.

    Guentzel and Kubel.

I like Aube-Kubel. He has the talent to take him to the NHL quickly.

Aube-Kubel and Guentzel are my two as well, but I do like Bear.

I went with Aube-Kubel on my first pick. I think all 3 offer something down the road. I'm probably looking at 2 seasons away with my current roster.

Jake Guentzel - Pit - should play now but I don't need anyone to play at this time.

Ethan Bear - Edm - could prove to be the offensive d-man that Edmonton wants but he may be the furthest away.

Matthew Phillips - Cal - just a sentimental fave (hometown team) but he's also the WHL rookie of the year and may be the most talented of the three, albeit small.

I would say Guentzel and Bear the two players to me who may have less obstacles to playing time in the NHL. Guentzel as mentioned could well be in the NHL this year and while Bear won't, what with the state of EDM's D, though improving, he doesn't have a whole lot of people to leap frog into playing time. Since you've got 2 picks doesn't hurt to do a F and a D as well.

Phillips IMO is quite a ways away and that size issue comes into play. Aube-Kubel, depending on where the Flyers deploy players may have a bit more in the way of obstacles to regular playing time than might Guentzel and Bear.
