I'm not sure about the signing part, but I don't think he has upped his game that much from his first stint in the NHL. He has been a good (not great) KHL player especially in the past 2 seasons on his all-star St-P. SKA squad (playing with Kovy, Shipachev, Panarin the year before.... heck even Steve Moses!). He was an average AHLer with limited NHL exposure so I doubt he comes back (if he does) and makes any sort of impact.

Even in optimal situations (aka top linemates), I doubt he breaks 45pts in the NHL.

No, I do not think he signs. I'm in another pool with a guy that follows the KHL very closely (he's from Croatia). His last update on Dadonov was: "Dadonov asked for too much money, nobody in NHL wanted to pay, and he is staying with SKA." Apparently Dadnonov is back in camp for SKA.

TBH I don't blame some Russians for this - the grind to the NHL is a hard slog and its a foreign country. Accepting a big deal and staying at home lacks ambition when we look at it but realistically it is always the player's choice and it is a short career

i dont see any contract details on eliteprospects. is there even a 5% chance he still signs to an NHL team this year? he is in FA in my AFHL league, 25 pro roster, 30 minors

i have 3 roster spots in my minors available. is he worth keeping in there? i have fellow russians nikita gusev, anatoly golyshev marinating in the minors right now.

or do you guys see him never coming over?

Yeah it happens. Sorry I couldn't help you out more with Bengtsson in your other thread. but honestly have 0 idea about him. Low risk, potential reward on picking him up to fill minors.
