I came here to say "it's what the rest of the world outside of North America calls hockey", but that description is beyond awesome!

I had a friend who moved to Canada from Tennessee (long before the Predators became a team). It was hilarious always hearing him refer to it as "ice hockey" all the time.

I went to hockey camp, when I was younger, with a bunch of kids from Michigan and they called hockey >> haaackey!! It was awesome.. HaHa..

Haha that`s funny... my wife was born in Dearborn (to Canadian parents) and she has friends from her old neighbourhood whom we see occasionally. They always make fun of the way we talk, and we do the same. Their big thing is the way we say "sorry"... they say "sarry" but make fun of us because we apparently say "sooooorry" lol... and we make fun of them because they say "hackey". Because they do.
