    Default Rate This Multi-Player Trade

I've been dominating in all pitching categories and really lagging in batting categories, especially from my outfielders. A team in my league put up a fire sale sign and I pounced on it. Head-to-head league, only keep 4 players. Rate this deal...

    TRADED AWAY
    Steven Matz
    Devon Travis
    Round 7 Draft Pick
    Round 11 Draft Pick

    AQUIRED
    Ryan Braun
    DJ LeMahieu
    Danny Duffy
    Round 12 Draft Pick
    Round 13 Draft Pick
    (dropping Josh Harrison)

I would imagine the other team will use one of his keepers on Matz and use Travis for rest of season. I feel like this trade helps both of us out but is especially good for me. What do you guys think?

I am assuming none of the players involved would be keepers for you? I feel like Matz could be close, who are your 4 keepers?

This all depends on the rest of our roster if you were trading away Matz because you're stacked in pitching. To me he's the best player in the deal, and Travis is no slouch in a top Toronto lineup. Plus the downgrade in picks, not sure I'm a huge fan, but if you could afford overpaying for the moderate boost at other positions, than sure.

Really need to know more about your league though to determine if it's a win/win.

I agree with Kofax that more information may be needed to know for sure. I will say that in my opinion both Matz and Travis may be the top 2 players in the deal longer term. For the rest of this season, if you already have 4 other keepers, you are correct in the assessment that this trade helps both teams. I think for the remainder of the year, Travis will put up similar numbers as LeMathieu (with more HR and less Runs). The fact that you also get Braun's counting stats definitely will help you in the offensive categories. Right now it looks like Matz and Duffy have similar numbers but I think longer term Matz has the higher upside.

I like the deal. Always tough to lose picks, but it needs to be done sometimes.
Braun is the best player in the deal, and addressed a need of yours. You say you dealt from a position of strength, so I assume Matz was not even one of your top 2 SP. If Braun is not to be kept, then I assume you have some solid support, and will have a good team to make a run at a championship.
The 2B swap is a pretty lateral move.
The more information, the clearer the picture, but for now it looks plenty pretty to me.

Rest of my roster looks like this....

    C - Buster Posey
    1B - Joey Votto
2B - Dee Gordon (just snagged him off free agency last week)
    3B - Jonathan Villar
    SS - Troy Tulowitzki
    LF - Hanley Ramirez
    CF - Mike Trout
    RF - Jose Bautista (DL)
    OF - Adam Duvall
    UTIL - Victor Martinez
    BN - David Peralta (DL)

    SP - Chris Sale
    SP - Noah Syndergaard
    RP - Jeurys Familia
    RP - Roberto Osuna
    P - Aaron Sanchez
    P - Marcus Stroman
    P - Drew Pomeranz
    P - Lance McCullers
    P - Kenta Maeda
    P - Hector Rondon

My four keepers would be Trout, Sale, Syndergaard and the final spot would be up for debate come spring training, so I wouldn't have kept Travis or Matz as a keeper.

I understand that it looks like I gave up a lot but this is the type of deal that had to be made if one were to happen. The trading partner specifically said he will only trade for young pitchers and upgraded draft picks. I personally value draft picks very highly but I saw a chance to improve my weakness and went for it. I currently sit 3rd of 10 in the league and have been jumping in the 1-3 position all season so I feel like I have a good chance to win this year so I figured I should go for it.

Definitely something you had to do. It's a lot to pay, but you have to pay if you want to win.

For me the piece I wanted was obviously Braun and I got him. Swapping Travis for LeMahieu is a wash like you said, the unfortunate part being that I just grabbed Dee Gordon so I have a bit of a surplus at 2B but no one really knows what Dee Gordon will be once he returns and I can always double up 2B using my utility spot if Victor Martinez struggles. I still like this trade for my team.
