So, as of 2014 there was a total of four goaltenders under 6 feet and exactly one that was the same height as Saros. None shorter.

Not sure if that is necessarily meaningful, but like I said... it concerns me.

don't get me wrong it has been in vogue.. same as finnsh goalies have been but none were drafted this year... would like to see him do well so the myth you need to be 6' plus is banished

This one's a bit off the radar but Scott Wedgewood played very well in limited playing time for the Devils. There's a rumour the Leafs might want Kinkaid as their backup, which would pave the way to Wedgy playing in the NHL. With Schneider being the stud he is you can't expect him to play much, but I guess there's the injury factor.

It's true. Just because a net is 6' tall, doesn't mean a 6'7" goalie doesn't fit very well in it

The girth is an illusion.. They only fill the net due to all the added protection.

Hahaha yup. Four feet tall… Thanks. Don't know what I would have been getting myself into without you there

Well without the protection, they would all be screwed (literally?). No way around it really!

So that extra height adds what..? But agree it's a concept that a lot of GMs have brought into (primarily because scouting goalies is so difficult and they need something in order to consider them!)

A few inches of height is the difference between a save and goal up high, in close. Bishop would have never gotten as many chances to become a regular if he were a half a foot shorter.

Likely a season too early but I am extremely high on Laurent Brossoit in Edmonton and an even bigger longshot but intriguing to me is Mantas Armalis in San Jose.

The extra height allows the goalie to take away the bottom of the net when down in the butterfly while still having their shoulders around the crossbar and longer arms to reach with.

which I grasp... with good core strength though that goalie doesn't need to be as tall as some of the behemoths that we have but probably more relevantly a puck's perspective is very different to what you see when you consider depth and gap between the goalie and the puck -
