I need to protect 9 players this year and am now stacked at D with Klingberg, OEL, Vatanen and Jones. Only 3 can make the cut.
Would you pull the trigger or consider it is too much for Seguin?

If I were you I would see who has 2nd pick and trade down. You will pick up and extra asset and still get lanie.

Actually I don't mind about that. I am in win now mode and am asking if I'd rather trade my pick (which would be Laine) along with Jones for Seguin or if it's too much value for that player.Originally Posted by newper114

You're upgrading from Laine to Seguin at the cost of a non-keeper. Jump on it if you can.

Seq is a great player so yes I would do this in a win now but my reserve is his salary and why I say picking Mathews or alone might be better as they will be much cheaper

I'd take the proven talent here. Like EB said, Jones isn't a keeper, and I think what we've seen from Seguin in multiple seasons is likely Laines three year upside. Seguin is a better bet.

Basic fantasy trading rule of thumb: if you have too many keepers, do a 2-for-1 or more to upgrade your other keepers. Jones has zero value to you, so make the deal.

I'd make that trade easily for the reasons mentioned above. You get the best player, and one of the best in the game today, and it basically cost you a kid who's yet to play a game in the NHL.
