A writer from TB did conceptualize the sign/trade yesterday.
And since the players are in the 5-day wiindow where they can generally talk to other teams...

It just doesn't make much sense NOW that the deal gets done.
If Stammer was really intent on staying in Tampa... this should've/could've been done days ago...
I've renewed my faith the trade will be announced...

Whatever he loses in taxes... I bet he could make that up in endorsements if he was in Toronto.
I love telling the Leafs fans - I told you so.
Unfortunately I just submitted my Capped column for this week so it looks like Cliffy is going to have to edit it.
On the bright side, I got this one right in the column.

Stamkos was in Toronto this morning. Met with MLSE and then our city mayor.
I'm betting it's a sign and trade and he's coming to Toronto... either that or Toronto's pitch was so terrible that it scared him straight back to TB lol
He has a full NMC. He's staying in TB. Done.
Where is eyemissgilmour? Dude has about 8 helpings of crow to eat on how Toronto is the greatest and Stamkos is definitely going to sign there because there's no better place to play and everyone wants to go to Toronto lol.
Is Stamkos reported $8.5 million cap hit only $1 million more than his expiring contract??

But remember that he also gets taxed on the additional endorsement deals... and his current endorsement deals.
so 8.5 @ 50 % (for easy figuring tax rate) = 4.25 million
So to make up the additional 4.25 million, he has to increase his endorsements buy an additional 8.5 million per year.
This calculation does not take into account his current endorsement income... so what ever he is making now... he has to double that amount as well to have the same after tax cash available.
And the Canadian government just introduced a new top tax bracket, which he would definitely fall into... and I know the tax rate is not quite 50% but I think its closer to 46% in Ontario.
That doesn't mean anything. He can waive it at his option.

This guy's from the Sun (Toronto equivalent of National Enquirer) so take with a grain of salt lol
So..... at this point is there any doubt whatsoever that the Bolts are Vasi's team from 2017-18 on, if not sooner?
