Have seen a varying degree of hype on him. I don't know what to make of him from a Fantasy perspective. Decent prospect? how far off until he hits the show? Does it seem like he will hit the show in Detroit?

Any insider info would be great.

    Tks

Specifically, is he keeper worthy over any of the following?

    Roster
    Karlsson
    Hanifin
    Klefbom
    Dillon
    Dahlbeck
    Orpik

    Farm
    Ouelett
    Dermott

Hickett's would have to replace one of these guys on my Roster (probably promote Oulett) or on my Farm.

    Thanks guys.

I don't buy the hype. Hicketts plays a big game for a small guy which is admirable, and he has pretty good hockey sense, and seems to step up his game when needed. He's performed well in the minors on a pretty strong team and his showing at the WJC was decent but remember he was favoured because of coach and for that reason stole prime time that should have been Sanheim's.

I could be wrong, and Detroit needs to get someone to run the PP ASAP. I can't get over his small frame and have doubts he will be able to stand up to the big boys of the NHL. We'll see how he holds up in the AHL this year.

I'd probably keep him over Orpik or Dahlbeck though. Ouellet might be with the big club this year so you could slot Hicketts in his place. Hopefully for you Hicketts will surpass Ouellet.

Do you really see him cracking an NHL line up next season? The season after that? He might make it but it won't be happening anytime soon.

Hicketts is an undersized D-man, has a great work ethic and is worth waiting on to see how his professional career goes. He is determined to prove his nay-sayers wrong. I expect DET to bring him along slowly, so he is a bit of a project.

Promoting Oulett is probably your best bet for now.

Ryan Ellis is 5’10” and 180lbs, but became full time at 23 yrs old. I can’t see Hickettes beating that projection. I’m saying he’s still at least 2 yrs away from fantasy relevance in a deep league.

I like Hicketts but with any Wings prospect he could be a while. DO think he breaks in before Dermott though so would consider that swap
