    The situation looks much better after this year when Dupuis and Kunitz will be off the cap. That's 7.6M right there. Then with Fleury moved, thats a really large amount of cap and makes the Pens players in free agency next year (if they want to be).
    Dupuis is nothing more than an offseason cap hit anyway, he will never play a game again.

    I think theyre keeping Fleury because theres no market. Teams either have a starter or they have an up and comer they want to protect. No point in adding Fleury and then likely losing him to the expansion draft.

    They're hoping there becomes a market during the season, between an injury to Elliott/Bob/Lehner/Lu or having implosions go down in Car/Van etc. You never know what a desperate contender/bubble team will do.

    If the Penguins traded Fluery they would instantly be in the market trying to sign/acquire a goalie. If they traded Fluery and Murray got hurt (or the yips) the Penguins would instantly be out trying to buy another goalie for more than they received in a trade right now for Fluery.
