    Default Ghost or Puljujarvi?

Dynasty keeper (Pts, PIMs, and +/-) and I have 3rd overall pick. The whole 2016 draft class is available but Ghostisbehere and Parayko are as well. I know Mathews will go 1st, strongly suspect Laine will go 2nd so the most likely scenario at 3rd will have me picking between Ghost and Puljujarvi?

Who to take? Want to take best player available, D vs F not a big consideration.

Ghost for me. Any chance you could trade down to 4 or 5 though and grab whoever is left of Parayko/Ghost/Pulj?

Depends on needs but pretty sure most teams would overpay on Ghost if competing and you're not?

Puljujarvi for me. You can catch lightning in a bottle with young D from time to time, and it's often not the top draft picks, so you they can be easier to snag if you spot them early enough. On the other hand, players like Puljujarvi are more difficult to get your hands on if you don't draft them. Puljujarvi's a significant talent, and I'd snap him up.

I'm on the tail end of a major rebuild so not looking to contend this year.

I agree with this. Not sold that Ghost's season is an outlook of his career. Would like another year to see how adjusts as other teams game plan to take him out of the equation on PP. Pul is the better pick if you are still rebuilding and not contending this year.

I like Puljujarvi too. PP defensemen seem to pop up every year or of nowhere. Also PHI has some of the best D prospects in the measure coming up soon. Just something else to consider that night affect Ghost. Whereas Puljujarvi is essentially guaranteed a spot in Columbus's top 6.

definitely puljujarvi for me. he's really getting overlooked this year with all the attention being on laine and Matthews. he's gonna be really good. ghost will be as well, but don't forget, provorov is coming up this year (and then sanheim, then morin, then myers, then....wow, their D is really good!), and provorov's their golden boy.
plus, in dynasty/keeper leagues, defencemen are much easier to find than forwards.

Alright, I thought the discussion would be a bit more split down the middle but I have until mid August to decide before draft day.

Puljujarvi, under the circumstances, though I would agree with Eskimo Brother - if you can pick Ghost and trade him for Puljujarvi & another asset, why not? Top end offensive guys are rare, while you can get defenders that will carry you through more reasonably. Still up in the air as to how Ghost's long term numbers will play out. In fact, I am looking to trade him with overvaluation in my league. They have Provorov & Sanheim waiting in the wings as offensive d-men, potentially Hagg & Myers as well (Morin being more a stay-at-home type), so there's a lot of potential for scoring & pp time to be split up in the next several years,

Actually everything just changed with Puljujarvi landing in the Oiler's lap. I'm an Oiler's fan and and my league is full of Oiler homers so the Finn's value just doubled! In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he went #2 now and I have Laine staring at me at #3.
