Default Sebastian Aho versus potential 1 round player draft

I would like to know where do you ranck Sebastian Aho(2nd 2015 CAR) in this year draft? He made a big improvement this year I like his potential but should I take him over bottom 1st round player this year draft?

    Thanks for the feedback!

At first blush, absolutely. What do you call bottom 1st rounder? If you're talking the second half of the first round, I'd gladly take Aho over those players.

there was already a thread about this, many of us agreed the 7-8 spot would good.

    top 6:

    matthews
    laine
    puljujarvi
    tkachuk
    dubois
    nylander

highest i'd consider taking aho is above nylander, depending on the league of course. i think 7 should be the highest you should consider taking him.

This is exactly where I would put him too. Right above Nylander (note I'm not high on Nylander). The 6-7 spot is about right.

How and why are you not high on Nylander?

I like the previous posts, just i'd have nylander ahead of aho. but he's right after him at 7 for me.

I'm with Praba here. But I would probably take him over Nylander. Aho is arguably NHL ready.

It depends on your league's settings, but personally there's no way I'm taking Aho before guys like Keller, Jost or one of the top three D in this year draft.

As for the OP question, I would definitely consider taking Aho at one point in the first 20 picks, but I'll take my chances with one of the top 15 guys in this year's class before reaching for him.

The attitude I've seen from him in games, and the fact that a bunch of the scouting reports from the playoffs have him as a skilled guy most of the time, but someone that doesn't have a drive, doesn't have a high effort level, and doesn't have the ability to be a consistant talent even in the OHL with solid linemates.
Just reminds me way too much of Alex Semin.

I can the this exact same thing about a ton of OHL prospects including ones who are very highly touted...problem with the OHL is that if you're an offensive player, you most often severely neglect the defensive side of the game. Very few know how to play a solid two-way game while contributing offensively.

Aho is looking like he could be a good NHL player. A low 1st rounder may not even make the NHL. Late 1st rounders can be a crapshoot. You can land a Perry or Getzlaf, or you can get a Tyler Biggs or Philippe Paradis.

    Laine
    Matthews
    Puljujarvi
    Dubois
    Tkachuk
    Keller
    Nylander
    Jost

I can see an argument for Aho ahead of Jost but I wouldn't take Aho before Keller or Nylander IMO.

I agree with the general consensus here, I wouldn't take him top 7, but he would be in the same group as Jost/Keller/Brown in that 8-15 range. At that point I think it comes down to preference and how soon you want them to contribute (Aho probably makes the NHL next year, whereas I would say Jost/Keller are 2 to 3 years away)
