Default Trade offer: Fleury + for Rinne +

    See team in sig.

Been offered Rinne, Spezza, Vanek and a 3rd rounder (31st overall)

    for

Fleury, Vlasic, E Lindholm and a 2nd rounder (18th overall)

    What are your thoughts?

Vanek is basically a drop and has no trade value, 3rd rounder I most likely wouldn't even use (as we only have to drop 2 players in our waiver draft).

Pretty easy decline for me. There is no real enticing part to that deal, except maybe Spezza if he can have another healthy and productive season. I would hold on to what you have, or see what the other manager would up the deal to.

Looks like you lose on the goalie, lose on the picks. And gaining Spezza for Vlasic and Lindholm makes up for that loss? Nope

I'd pass as well. Doesn't look like you're really filling a need for your team, and taking a downgrade at G would hurt you quite a bit, seeing as you're a little thin there already.

That is one hell of a pathetic deal I think.
    Fleury > Rinne
Vlasic + Lindholm >> Spezza, Vanek
    Your pick > His pick

I don't see any incentive on your end here.

I like the deal a lot for you. You NEED a clear-cut starter as your crease has a lot of uncertainty linked to it. I think Fleury is a clear-cut starter but I don't like the possibility of him playing elsewhere. Rinne on the other hand had a rough patch this year but did show that he can still play his A-game later in the season; I think he will bounce back nicely next year (think Luongo). Spezza is a 2nd liner but has top PP time and should be good for 60 for the near future. Lindholm could grow into a solid 60-70 point player, but you have that with Spezza and you have a win-now team.

The pick is a downgrade but at that point in time, both the 2nd rounder and the 3rd rounder can land you a boom/bust player. I don't think Vanek will turn things around, but giving up Vlasic to get that extra piece is a joke in your format.

Overall, this deal is a win for you IMO considering your team. I'm surprised the other manager would offer this much for the return he is getting unless he is in total rebuild mode.

i'm kinda on the same path as Bass here.

    RInne > Fleury IMO

Vlasic for Vanek is a loss for you, and so is teh DP downgrade, but so what.

    Hi All,

Thanks for your input, seems like it's a toss up. I've been discussing this with the GM and some ideas that have been thrown out is taking vanek and vlasic out of the offer. As well, the GM is Yonald (who posted in this chat, see his team sig.) and he has Murray (and Saros) as well. So he would be getting Fleury to handcuff. We've also discussed briefly about me getting Murray but he's stated that any deal involving Murray would have to involve Hellebyuck on my side.

I'm thinking if I were to acquire Rinne, I'd want Saros in that deal as well, so at least I have that handcuff when Rinne goes down or his starts start to decline in 2-3 years time.

    Your thoughts?

I think people are hitting the panic button too fast with Rinne.
He might not be a top-3 option anymore but he's certainly a top-10 goalie with the OP's league settings (W+SO).
Starts volume is important in this case, not peripherals. You know Rinne will start 60+ for at least another 2 seasons with a strong Nashville squad.
In my books, him and Fleury are pretty equal.

Spezza is also very appealing in those settings imo... he scored 9 goals and 24 points on the PP and he's a fixture to stay there with Benn and Seguin.
I agree that Vanek has become garbage, but you're not giving any core piece (except Fleury) and you're receiving two.
I like the deal for the OP.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
