Looked like his skate stuck, and his upper body twisted. Best case a subluxation with no tear of any of the major ligaments.
This happened - he went down hard on his knee:

FWIW it doesn't 'have' to be bad news. I slipped and slammed down hard on my leg just like that, bending my knee fully over. After a quick yell and some rolling around I was able to hobble up. The next day my knee actually felt as loose as it hadn't been in 10 years! So have hope...

@SmittysRant
Dude was in some serious pain.
He was down for a while in what appeared to be extreme pain. My first thought was he just blew out his knee and he's done for the rest of the season.

Cooper on Bishop injury: "He had x-rays done and everything came back negative, so we're hoping for the best." #TBLightning

More from Cooper on Bishop injury: "He's definitely hurt but there's nothing structurally wrong. That was a big relief." #TBLightning
Some encouraging news for Bishop and Tampa at least.
Your beer mug isn't half-empty, your just half-way to the next refill.....
I think you are right Shake in that there are some limitations in what an x-ray can show, and I would expect he'll get an MRI as a matter of routine, but if there were major structural damage it would show up even now on x-ray. He could still have strained one or more ligaments but not torn them. I'm no Doctor though.

Vasilevskiy did just fine in relief, I would be more concerned about Tyler Johnson..

Haven't had to deal with the ligaments or anything, but I dislocated my kneecap about 10 years ago now, and had the same kind of rally painful moments (and there is the popping noise as well). My kneecap popped back into place almost immediately, so I didn't really know what had happened, and as far as recovery period etc, I'm hoping that's all it is for Bishop as well. If that were the case it would likely be 6-8 weeks out of action, not enough to be back for the finals, but still better than an ACL.
