Default Giroux To Undergo Hernia Surgery

    http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/re...injury-hernia/

Giroux had a pretty underwhelming season, regular and playoffs, in terms of points. He's reportedly been battling this lingering injury all season and underwent treatments to avoid surgery. Timeline is only 8 weeks so won't drag into next season. But might help to explain why we saw the dip in production.

Kinda like Bobby Ryan last offseason. Hopefully he’s back at doing highlight reel goals and passes. Helps Voracek a bit too.

I thought something was up, he definitely didn't look the same down the stretch or in the playoffs..

The hernia surgery isn't a big deal. I actually just had one. The Hernia showed up in January, and I continued playing hockey at full capacity until my surgery at the beginning of March, and now, two months later I am back to full health.
If the hip injury was what was really dragging him down, then that would explain the slow season. Hopefully he can bounce back as well as Benn did from it.

Apparently Ghost is out as well. It's interesting that they seem to be very similar injuries. Hopefully they both have successful recoveries!

Actually thrusting is one thing that isn't really affected.

It's a bulge where the muscle wall weakens. Sometimes it's painful, and sometimes it isn't. They can really differ based on the site and what causes it.

This. Close in to the hip flexor it can interfere with skating, but if its a little further up into the abdominal muscles it wouldn't have effected much more than his ability to get physical without discomfort.
