Duly noted. The kid does fire the puck better than any 17/18 year old I've seen in the last decade plus.

Pretty black and white thinking. While I almost always aim to receive the best player in a deal, there are situations where two very good are better than one great. Also, i'll assume you're just picking random numbers, because saying Laine has a 65 point ceiling, is a pretty bold call.

As much as I like Laine, this is a pass. Eichel has already shown he can do well in the NHL, while Laine is still a question mark. Connor, as well. Two very good, but unproven guys.

For the record, I don't think this is crazy. It's a valid offer worth some thought.

just random numbers but probably close to their 7-season peak averages.

Take Eichel & the #6 pick. You are pretty sure you will get a guy very comparable to the known prospect you are giving up on your side. Eichel is NOT a prospect. There are times you do want 2 very good players instead of one great player, because it diversifies your risk. However, you are giving two great prospects, for a great prospect, and a very good player, who can grow into great.

I'm a big Laine fan and watching this years World Championship, even more so! I think he'll be a great player in the NHL. So I don't think it's a bad trade at all.

But, if the question here is Eichel or Laine, my vote goes to Eichel.

There is a decent chance that Eichel rips it up next year. If that happens, come December, you will be able to trade Eichel for Laine and Connor and + and +. Laine and Connor are prospects. Good ones, but still prospects. Eichel is in the NHL and is scoring points and has a reasonable chance to be a 70 point player next year. I doubt that either Laine or Connor will be in the NHL next year full time.

I think if you did this trade it would be selling low on Eichel and buying high on Laine. Dont do it.

Is it just me, or is this thread gone crazy? You're trading for Eichel, correct?

Good question, and timely, as I've been trying to obtain each of them in my main money league. I see Laine as more Ovie; eventually he could be a 50 goal scorer, but that will be a little while. Don't see him getting all the assists though, so maybe he still winds up 70-80 point player. Not bad, certainly. Eichel will score lots of goals but dish it out a lot too, so I think he is more likely to be the 100 point player at some point. I'd stick with Eichel too, though Laine is really tantalizing. #6 pick vs. Connor is a wash.

That is the case 90% of the time. In this case were talking about two very highly ranked prospects and nobody knows yet what types of players they will become. So putting Laine and Connor in he class of 65 point players, is a bit premature. For all we know we could be looking at this in a year and saying that, Eichel for Laine and Connor is not enough.

Eichel is great. I know, I own him and he ain't going anywhere. But if someone came to me with this offer I would think about it long and hard, (giggle).

The hype train for both Laine and Connor has been full steam ahead for the past few weeks. But maybe that's because they're both really good players. In my draft I have the 2nd and 11th overall picks. And those 2 are the players I'm targeting. So maybe I'm biased.

I do the deal, Eichel is proven 24/32 with the absolute ceiling in that 80-85 point range. We all love watching Laine highlights and him sitting at that left dot bombing one home like ovi but I wonder how he will adjust to the smaller arena and better two way game of the NHL. Might take him a three years to get to that 70/80 mark. You may "lose" this trade eventually but I think you win it now.
