Default How does Radulov compare to other Russian studs (Malkin, Ovi)?

Internationally, he seems to be in the same conversation and as important to the Russians.

Before you laugh me off the boards, just ask yourself would Malkin do much better in the KHL than Rads has done?

Am I dreaming to think that he can produce at the same level in the NHL? I think theres a real chance

He will be 30 and has an attitude problem. But with age comes maturation though not for all either way you analyze he is a roll of the dice. He has the skill but he is not a generational talent a la Malkin. Radulov's style these past couple seasons in KHL is hard to translate here because in Russia that guy was a star and was given lenience. He is a pouter I will tell you that much for sure, he gets a penalty he does not like and he shall complain more than a woman on her period. If he changes his ways and truly wants to win he could be anywhere from 50-65 point guy but I do not think he is in the elite strata.

His last few years in the KHL have been incredibly undisciplined (check out the PIM totals!) so it really depends where he lands. If he is somewhere where they take the reigns off and let him run a bit, he'll be incredibly successful.

He has an NHL-style game in that he's a bit of a bull in a china shop... a bit like Ovy in that he'll go through you quite happily, and he has good hands.

So, provided he can readapt to the NHL pretty well - and I think he likely can - he will be a very good scorer. If he's not a top-30 scorer in the league, I'll be disappointed.

In the 2012-13 lockout season Malkin put up 1.76 PPG, Radulov 1.42 and Ovechkin 1.29.

For interests' sake, Kovalchuk put up 1.17 and Datsyuk 1.16.

Panarin is a decent comparable for the points performance anyways. Linemates and coaching will make a big difference, but he is talented enough to put up points wherever he goes.

Radulov could score anywhere from 40-80 points in the NHL. Not super helpful I know, but so much depends on where he goes and how he's used. On pure talent, he could definitely score 80 and be a top 10 scorer. But he could also end up in the doghouse and flame out. Tough player to gauge.

Will he score 100+ points like Geno or Ovi have, if that's what you're asking? Safe bet would be an easy no.

Are we talking NHL or KHL games here?

Radulov played a total of 17 NHL games and scored 13 points (counting 8 playoff games). Hardly a reliable sample size from which you could draw comparisons.

This post is about the lockout season, not the one prior. All of the numbers he reported are KHL numbers

Ah, gotcha. Well, comparing stats of a perennial KHL player to those of players who are just marking time until the lockout ends may not be all that useful either.
