Sad news indeed! He was an artist with so much "life" in him. I was never a die-hard fan of his but I did get to catch a few of his concerts in the last decade and you could see how much his fans loved him.

As a guy who actually grew up in the 70's/80's, I can honestly say I owned many of his cassettes. He was an icon for sure. 57 is way too young.

A sad day. He was always one of those guys, where I was never really into the style of music that he performed, but always appreciated his level of talent, and what he did for the music industry. His SuperBowl half time show during a downpour in 2007 is the best half time show I have ever seen. RIP sweet Prince.

... And the music world grows a little darker.

Not a huge fan but that's a shock. He was an icon to many. What happened?
Sad week. Doris Roberts, of Everybody Loves Raymond, the other day. Chyna and Prince today. Not to mention David Bowie a couple of months ago as well as Glen Frey and Gary Shandling. Except for Doris, who was 90, the rest left too soon.

The line "When doves cry" seems more like it should be for moments like this than what the song is actually about.

You want a feel for just how acclaimed an artist this cat was check out this vid...a Beatles tribute w/ Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood et al, and Prince. Just wait for the 3 min mark or thereabouts. He is so electric.
