It all depends on where Andersen ends up. If he ends up in Toronto, Gibson will be the better own. If he ends up in Dallas, Andersen will be. Pre-Deadline Gamble...
I prefer Gibson...but it's close!

This is tough...Do you take the guy who is going to be the future of a solid playoff team for awhile, or the other guy who is going to stay a starter but on an unknown team...as much as I like Andersen I would have to say you go with the guy who has less variables attached to his future: Gibson.

This has been a great little debate, seems like Gibson is the favorite, but only by a hair. It will be interesting to see what ANA does in the off-season. Thanks for all the input.

I think Gibson is the guy to go with.

In a playoff pool drafting right now, 9:43pm EST.
I've drafted Perry, Getzlaf, Kesler Vatanen.
With my eggs firmly in a basket, trying to decide between Gibson and Andersen if they remain available.
Who would you guys lean to for playoffs??

What I think is that Andersen is the more consistent goalie, and Gibson is the more talented goalie. Gibson's best game is better than Andersen's best game, but Gibson's bad games are significantly worse than Andersen's bad games. Andersen is just steady. He rarely posts shutouts, but he rarely gives up bad goals. Gibson will play insane one night and then let in 4 softies the next night.
Tonight it's gonna be Andersen in net for Anaheim!

It's Anderson's opportunity to steal the crease to the finish line or bust.

The more I watch Andersen, the more impressed I am with him. Andersen is only about 3 years older than Gibson, so I'm starting to lean towards Andersen even if he gets traded. I think he'll be a great #1 wherever he goes.

simply a show case. A team is going to pay handsomely to take this RFA off Anaheim's books. And Anaheim will continue to move forward with Gibson and (dare I say... Reimer!? hmmmmmm). Mark it.
Riiiiight "simply a showcase". Because when a team is down 2-0 in a playoff series they're going to focus on showcasing a goalie for trade value..... if they win this series they could ride Andersen and who knows how far they'll go!
I love/hate this back and forth on these guys. I just hope the situation is more clear before I need to choose one next September!
