Possible 1st round UPSETS...which team
Any opinions on which teams have the best chance to pull off an upset in the 1st round. Our draft pool (18 franchises x 11 rounds = 198 players drafted). I'm thinking of employing Dobber's stategy posted today regarding draft playoff pools. He suggests, in a deep pool like ours, to pick 2 or 3 players with your last picks from a team which have been ignored in the draft. In such a deep pool as ours I think the decent scorers from pretty much all the favoured teams will be gone by round 7. Which to me means look for an upset. Pick an upset team in pool like this is one big bonus.
Points only, SKATERS: G/1, A/1. GOALIES: Win 1, Shutout 1.
Any thoughts, opinions on which team would be most likely to pull off an upset?
Current matchups are: Caps-Philly..Pens-NYR, Panthers-Isles, Bolts-Wings, Stars-Wild, Blues-Hawks, Ducks-Preds, Kings-Sharks.
Appreciate hearing any thoughts, opinions.

Based on these matchups, I would say NSH, SJ & NYI are the best bets to pull out "upsets"...what I mean by upsets here is that the consensus will likely take their opponents to win and these teams may get ignored. DET/TB & STL/CHI are too close to call for me and the other three series I think are fairly cut and dry.

Depending on what set of Detroit goaltending shows up, I would say they are in a good spot against a bruised TB team. The Caps/Philly game from a week or so ago was a wonderful game, with Philly coming out on top in the SO. I think that series could go longer than people think, but probably still ends up being the Caps in the end.

Based on the matchups I like the following matchups:
Islanders over Panthers- this one will be close. Despite it being a 1st v. WC matchup these teams are only 4 points apart (101-97)
Wings over Bolts- Stamkos out and the Wings may do what the Wings do.
Wild over Stars- Seguin still out, the Wild can go total shutdown mode like few other teams.
Chicago over StL- this is a rankings upset only IMO. Who bets against Chicago in the playoffs these days?

In the East, all the favourites could be upset. Philly matches up well against the Caps but they might have run out of steam. In the West all the favourites will win round 1.

I think many will overlook Florida in playoff pools, but they have the intangibles to go far, depth at C, playoff vets, above average goalie, and ability to be prolific on PP & PK.

That is bold - I like it! Ducks have one of the best checking lines in the league in Silf - Kesler - Cog. Should be interesting none the less. I'd pick the Ducks in that series.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

It currently looks like the Panthers are playing the Rags. THis is probably the worst possible matchup for my team and i absolutly would prefer to play the Caps. If this happesn pick up some Rangers.

Thank you for all the replies. Appreciate you taking the time. Lots of bracket changes last night. Don't know how much they change things but draft is tonight.
...Still Stars-Minny, SL-Chi, TB-Det. Changes Philly out, Caps-Bos, Pens-NYI, Flor-NYR.
Does this change anyone's thinking regarding Caps and Pens advancing?
Think we will just avoid Bruins, Wings and Flyers. Draft tonight and I believe bracket match ups can still change by Sunday night???
