If the Habs win the lottery, they will not go with Dubois. He's good, but not that good. The top 3 seems to be set.

And the Habs have better lottery odds to move down (1 or 2 spots) than move up.

Just trying to get a feel for the calibre of the two Finns vs past draft classes. The buzz around them seems to really be growing (and I own picks 1/2/3 for league in sig).

In 2013, the draft went 1. Mack 2. Barkov 3. Drouin 4. Jones. If the Finns were available in this 2013 draft class, where would they have been ranked pre-draft?

In 2015, would they have been ranked ahead of Strome/Marner/Hanifin?

My sense (or maybe it's just hope) is that the Finns are seen as better prospects than all these guys with the only knock on them being that they are wingers, not centremen or D.

Do you see them as full-time NHLers next season?

A lot would depend on where they go, team-wise, but at least they have the AHL option if the NHL isn't in the cards early on for them.

End of April, we can start projecting our first round draft picks and who will go where

Indeed! Just need to see the Oilers win another lottery, and then who will be picking 2nd and 3rd to determine those things.

I don't think they are ahead of MacKinnon and Barkov. But we can argue about Laine, Puljujarvi, Drouin, Strome and Marner. Between them, Laine is my favorite.

Laine with 2 great goals. Apparently had 11 shots and led the team with 28 minutes of ice time too.

    Puljujarvi had the OT winner.

    I'm excited.

1 and 3 are no brainers. whoever picks 2nd overall is going to have a very difficult decision.

personally i like puljujarvi but everything i'm reading is saying laine is the better guy

Yeah, I want the Habs to draft Dubois but obviously not with a top3 pick.

I wonder what the price would be to say move from pick #8 to pick #4.

i'd be curious to see if anyone made a trade like that. there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in talent for players you can select in that range...so unless there is someone you specifically want or a positional need i'm not sure it happens.

if it does i'd expect it to be a team that needs a D to move up to ensure they get chychrun/juolevi/sergachev. vancouver comes to mind, although they will probably still finish high up enough to grab one.

I could see the Habs doing it for Dubois. But who knows what it would cost.
