    It's great that Stone isn't too seriously injured. The results could have been awful, considering the speed Stone was skating.

    Legal or not, Stevens looked to hurt people, in my opinion. He went out of his way to cross the ice with speed and destroy players. Buff doesn't do that. He closes the distance, but a lot of his hits are him standing people up and putting just a bit of force into it. He lets up a tonne all the time. What we see is a sliver of what he could do to guys out there.

    He's such and incredible athlete. Now that he's committed himself, he's just awesome to watch every night.

    The head isn't the primary point of contact though.

    pretty sure that doesn't matter anymore. And for sure won't in the future. They will outlaw any head contact.

    Ehhhhhhh, I wish I could snag the frame before that, but it’s not the principal point of contact. His hip is doing more off it to Stone’s chest.

    If you can’t pick out head contact in real time, I don’t see it being a penalty based on the whole “principle point of contact” they always look at. It’s a lot closer than I originally thought tho.

    Couldn't get it exactly at the point of contact, but just before:

    @horrorfan

    Ya, the frame we want is non-existent in the video. The being hit picture looks like his chin is catching Buffs back. It’s not like he targeted his head.

    Again the head contact will be deemed illegal whether principal or not in the near future.

    I do not envy the Refs in the future then. It’s hard to see in slow mo let alone full speed unless it’s principal point.

    Karlsson’s hit in the playoffs is the first hit that comes to mind that’s almost identical (minus location on the ice) to this one. That was prolly the best hit of his career, and it broke Bealieau (I think that’s who he hit) jaw, even tho he didn’t “hit” his head.

    I can see if any head contact becomes a penalty; any shoulder to chest hit will be gone. Just based on the bodies mechanics, you hit the chest, the head will go forward, and I can just see a lot of penalties being called because of “after the hit” head movement.

    Like I said, I don’t envy the refs at all.
