Patrick Maroon has been traded from Anaheim to Edmonton for a prospect and mid-round pick

This is a Chiarelli type player for sure. Bigger size with some skill. Depending on return I actually like this move.

True, and Chiarelli has stated that adding size was going to be a priority for him. Hopefully this works out better than the last bigman the Oilers got from the Ducks, good ole Pancake Penner. They seem like similar players.

Not a bad return for Maroon. Hopefully this works out. The Oilers definitely needed the size.

I liked Pat Maroon when he was with the Phantoms (Flyers). He was projecting to be a good player.

Really like this for Edmonton. Maroon and Kassian together could make a scary pair on the wings assuming they play opposite sides. Stick Draisaitl in the middle and you have a very poor mans version of the Maroon-Getzlaf-Perry line that always seemed to do well in Anaheim.

Maybe similar players but Maroon comes with a much cheaper contract. Penner was offer sheeted for big money that almost caused the Lowe vs Burke barn house dust-up!

Actually I'll add to say that Maroon has much more grit and drive than Penner ever had.

But Yakupov wasnt playing with guys like Getzlaf and Perry. Dont get me wrong, I understand what you are saying, but imagine if Yak had been playing with those guys.
