I'd go with Thatcher Demko. Don't think Malcolm will become much of an NHLer while me thinks Demko will become a starter one day.
If you had to pick one for your bench in a dynasty, who you prefer, in terms of: wait time, probability of success, team direction and upside.
My take is:
Subban probably has a shorter wait time to being a backup, Demko could be a starter sooner, Subban is less likely to succeed, Boston as a team is in a better direction, trending upwards. Subban may have a bit of a higher upside.
League is pts only, W is 2pts, SO win is 5 pts.
Other notables are: Eric Comrie, Ilya Samsonov, Zach Fucale
11 team dynasty league - POINTS ONLY
30 player roster
18 starter slots:
12 Forwards - Max 92 GP per foward slot
Kane, Seguin, Kuznetsov, Eichel, Mack, Brassard, Stone, Pavelski, Stepan, Scheifele, Fabbri, Lucic, Draisaitl, Kreider, Skinner, Kadri, Horvat
6 Defensemen - Max 92 GP per defense slot
Klingberg, OEL, Ghost, Pietriangelo, Barrie, Hamilton, Stralman, Ceci,
2 Goalies - Max 75 GP per slot
Bishop, Gibson, Mason, Raanta, Dominigue
12 Bench slots: free mix of F, D, G
G = 1 pt, A = 1 pt
W = 2 pts, SO = 3 pts (Shut out win = 5 pts)
I'd go with Thatcher Demko. Don't think Malcolm will become much of an NHLer while me thinks Demko will become a starter one day.
For your bench?
I'd say none of the above. None are going to be helpful to your fantasy team any time soon so why would you waste a roster spot on them?
If you had a minors system, it would be different but I wouldn't waste a bench spot on a goalie prospect. Simply too much unpredictability.

How is Boston trending upwards? Their best (fantasy) defender by a country mile is Torey Krug, who shouldn't be any better than a #3D on any standard team.
I see only two positive takeaways from their season thus far. 1) Marchand's put together a career season that may be sustainable going forward. 2) Spooner's developed into a handy C though this is partly due to Krejci hitting IR for parts of the season.
The negatives are a bit lengthier.
1) The core of this team is getting long in the tooth. Chara's a ghost of his former self. So is Seidenberg. These are the top 2 guys Julien favours. Based on this, Rask's numbers have suffered and it's not like these defenders will improve over time. Bergeron's north of 30. Krejci's body has taken a pounding and might as well be north of 30 based on mileage.
2) Eriksson's likely gone as UFA.
3) Beyond Pasta & Spooner who already have roster spots locked down, there is no prospect development plan in place for any of the current core. The D looks really thin once Chara retires, unless a miracle UFA signing happens.
I'm just not sure where the heightened optimism is coming from. I'd avoid Subban at all costs.
I agree with Axeman too...no sense retaining lottery tickets like goalie prospects if they cost you a real roster spot.
