Oof, took the loss 2-3, after a powerplay goal in the third period. Still good to see him perform like this VS one of the best teams in the league today.
Playing extremely well tonight, I've had the pleasure to watch him for the first time, and he's able to contain the high powered Caps offense as well as any NHL regular.

here's what I don't get....Pens know they had B2B with Az and Wash...and yet they started Fleury against Az and threw the kid, with 5 NHL starts, to the wolves. Crazy. I woulda done it the other way around but what do I know? Guess it was a chance to see how the kid would hold up in the event the elect to carry him the rest of the way. Still, the kid represented himself well tonight.
Guarantee themselves the win vs ARI, guarantee themselves the loss vs PIT. Pissed me off too they went for 1/2. That 6-0 shutout could have been Murrays, instead I get no win and 0 points -1 from OV tonight. Though one could argue that MAF has been flaming trash lately and Murray is the better goalie lol.........
One thing to consider about Murray is that Washington doesn't have as much knowledge of Murray as they do with Fleury. I'm sure its all part of a chess game. This game didn't quite work out for the Pens. Although as you said Captaincrunch the kid did well. One PPG away from OT and pulling out a point against the Metro's best team.
guys also play tougher in front of the back-up so maybe the thought was that the Pens needed a little extra oomph tonight. Still, it's really old school to throw the kid in there tonight to show his mettle. I also like Lektrix analysis too.
Or NHL teams simply feast off of backups who barely have any experience. Ortio still doesn't have a win this year and Hammond looks human again . Hell wasn't Malcom Subban pulled in the first 10 minutes in his first NHL start?
Regardless we are all lucky this was a 3-2 game and not a 6-1 drubbing after 2 periods
