    Default Prospects

Just came across a ranking from TSN of the top 50 prospects already drafted. These are players that could be picked up off the waiver wire (as oppossed to our entry draft which is held after the NHL entry). I am not doing too badly as I have: #2 Dylan Strome, #8 Jimmy Vesey, #12 Shea Theodore, #14 Mike Reilly, #27 Jakub Vrana. There are a couple of prospects available and I have room for 1 more. From this list the top two available are:
#19 Colin White (OTT), #23 Travis Sanheim (PHI), but there is also #42 Thomas Chabot who I hear good things about. I know these rankings are subjective, and Craig Button isn't the be all and end all. How would you rank these three? Which would you want on your team down the road?

I would definitely take White over Chabot. I would take him over Sanheim as well because he is a forward as opposed to a D.

White would have been a Top 10 pick without injuries last year according to many. He has been lights out in the NCAA, and Hockey East people are saying he's the best in that conference in the last little while since Gaudreau and Eichel.

Chabot is definitely too low but that is just one guy's rankings and some of his decisions are questionable at best.

I've read the same thing; apparently he slipped quite a bit to get to the Sens. I remember looking at his numbers after he was drafted and thinking "meh", then read something along these lines.

He's currently 11th among NCAA with 35 in 26 games, best on his team. He's also the only Freshman among that top-11 other than the leader, Kyle Connor. Might turn into a bit of a steal at 21st overall.

yeah his draft year and draft +1 year are almost mimicking Larkin's. Both Larkin and White played behind a stud #1C on the US national development team and didn't have a chance to strut their stuff. Then the next year they really took off. White was the best player along with Matthews for the US junior team and looks really good as a freshman at BC.

This was posted on HFBoards on Feb 1st. Point per games of players in their freshman year after being drafted to the NHL. More than 1 PPG seems to indicate NHL success. All are "stars" except Wilson who is good though.

Very interesting indeed. Well I just picked him up. I can afford to wait for him no problem.

Is this team in your signature? I'd drop Nesterov and/or (Mike) Reilly to pick up Sanheim and Chabot, both progressing well.

Yes this is my team. I was leaning towards dropping Nesterov. I would like to hang on to Reilly though, he is supposed to be good. Of course, one never knows with prospects. I have to wait until next week for any move though as we are allowed 1 pick up per week and I took White with it.
