He'll clear. He wasn't that good in Pittsburgh or L.A. Can't see a team wanting to claim him when he can't succeed in those organizations.

Depending upon McDonagh status, evaluation of current 4 RH alignment and guys in AHL, NYR might--that's might--consider claiming Ehrhoff.

So you can't get anything for a veteran NHL defender who is just signed for $1.5 million ? Nothing ? Not even a late pick ?

I'm not sure LA wants to move him. This looks like a necessary move to free up some cap room come the trade deadline. If he's claimed, big deal. If he's not, they still have some depth on the back end going into the playoffs. That said, I didn't realize what poor stats he has. He hasn't been a good fit in LA.

Actually, waiving Ehrhoff is the prelude to calling up Kevin Gravel from the AHL Reign. Gravel is a tall, lefty shooter and as his name suggests he brings some grit.

I wonder if Ehrhoff still has time to make it back to Sweden for the playoffs. It seems like that might be where his career is pointed. Last year he failed in a great opportunity with Pittsburgh who needed him. this year he failed in a great opportunity with LA who needed him.

as expected he clears. only way he moves to another team is if someone trades a contract back.

So that's obviously the case, nobody even wanted him for free.

That's insane! I know the guy is not a defensive god, but I can't see how a team would not add him as a 5th-6th D considering his cap hit for the ROS.

Its not the worst non-claim of the year. WTF were the Habs thinking not claiming Khudobin when they had the chance?

khudobin wouldnt have made much of a difference. i don't see him as much of an upgrade on condon/scrivens if at all.

habs minus price aren't a playoff team, which many of us have hypothesized for years but only now can finally confirm. just goes to show how insanely good Price is.

The thinking at the time was that Price wasn't going to miss that much more time. It wasn't for a couple more weeks that they said he would be out until the all-star break. So why bring in Khudobin if they figured on Price being back sooner. And it's not like Montreal's goalie were playing horrific at that time. Montreal just couldn't score but were outplaying most of their competition.
