Yes, I traded him in early December for Shattenkirk. His ppg average in my league was brutally low at the time. I actually picked Jumbo off the Waiver wire in November after he was discarded by another owner. So I was still happy with my trade but wow, did he ever go on a tear when I traded him.

Top 30 for sure... Thornton's the new MSL. No matter how well he performs everyone will assume he will decline (see Goldendelicious' post above) and he will be criminally undervalued.

Is Thornton known to have the work ethic of a guy like MSL? I think his style lends himself to b=having some great longevity but it's so tough to know when a guy will finally fall off.

I don't know about repeating, but I've always felt comfortable pegging him as a 70 point guy, and that won't change for me next year. I hope everyone continues to discount his age so that I can scoop him up in the 3-4th rounds.

Guess who's moved into the Top 4!!!

Not too shabby for a fifth round pick... I'd say I got my money's worth

I'm just hoping he can get to at least 82, hit a PPG Joe!

In my $50 1 year frozen league (all points) I drafted Malkin 12th overall, Pavelski 24th overall, Thornton 36th overall...if Malkin just stayed healthy that would have been an unreal first 3 picks. Never understood why people overlook him. Been the most reliable scorer over the past 10 years. Always healthy, always scoring.

Jumbo Joe said he hopes he can be as mentally and physically strong like Jagr and be able to play into his 40s if his body allows. I think he could. He also paid a lot of credit to Pete de Boer for changing SJ's play style and more attacking in the neutral zone to push up on opposing teams. Working very well for the Sharks.

In my 15 team $$ pool I got him 124th overall in the 9th round..... talk about crazy value

Then I traded his cold ass 25 games into the season for Josi and I've been regretting it ever since.

JT is "overrated" because he doesn't shoot or score enough (barely 2 SOG/game) and he quit fighting a long time ago. So then you're looking at a poor man's Backstrom who can only pick up assists and PPP and +-. Great for a points only league where G=A but crappy for a true rotisserie league. JT is a good compliment to anyone's fantasy roster, but I wouldn't draft him in the first 5 rounds (75th overall).

Whoomp there it is! Saved it till the very last period of the last game, but that's 82 points for Jumbo Joe... PPG for the season and 4th overall in scoring.

The only reason I've been following this guy so closely is because he single handedly kept my team in the running in the 2nd half when Seguin, MaxPac and Hedman all went cold, ultimately helping us win the championship this week.

I nominate Jumbo Joe for fantasy "steal of the year"... bet he went 6-7th round in most draft formats (and I'm sure he'll get the "MSL treatment" again next year despite finishing 4th).

Cheers to those of us who held onto this old man through the thick and thin!

Thornton should be a Hart finalist
