    Default Quick Rebuild

I took over as owner to a team that undoubtedly was unloved the year before. This is the 2nd year of the league and my first as owner and I felt I had to rebuild to even have a shot at mediocrity this year. I'm looking for opinions on how I have done with the team I started with and how I can possibly improve by the end of the season.

I am currently in 5th place (top 6 make playoffs) but I don't think I have a great shot to win this year so I may dish off a package of Thornton, Marchand and Little for a better 15th keeper since I have a solid 14.

Beginning of Season Keepers: Keepers Now:
    Lundqvist Lundqvist
    Rask Rask
    Carlson Carlson
    Yandle Yandle
    Thornton Krejci
    E Staal Kopitar
    Iginla Toffoli
    Hossa Voracek
    Spezza Perry
    Zetterberg Hedman
    Luongo Huberdeau
    Kessel Forsberg
    Hartnell Eichel
    Vrbata Brodie
    H Sedin Marchand/Little/Thornton/Trade
    10 team keep 15 players league, 25 player roster, with H2H categories (G, A, +/-, PPP, SOG, HITS, W, SV%, SO, GAA)

    LW: Forsberg, Huberdeau, JVR, Guentzel
    RW: Palmieri, Mark Stone
D: Hedman, Ristolainen, S. Jones, OEL
    G: Lundqvist or Mike Smith

That's not a bad team. If you can reap an elite player for the three you're trying to trade, that would be a great move. Personally, I don't think it's a big worry if you don't pull off a deal for that 15th keeper. Once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. So the depth may actually help your team this season and you could even wait until the offseason to make the deal.

Who do you consider elite for those three?

    It's OK.

You did give up two pretty big pieces in Luongo & Kessel.
I'm not sure I'd be trading those guys lightly in a keeper.
Lu has probably been a 5th-10th best goalie in fantasy this year.
And Kessel still has excellent keeper value.

Toffoli/Eichel/Voracek/Forsberg is a very nice return back though.
    Especially Eichel.

Overall, I give you a thumbs up... because goalies can be found at reasonable prices in 10-team leagues.

    Nice work.

I appreciate that. I didn't have much to start with and traded Luongo prior to the season expecting a usual Panthers team instead of this Panthers team. I've been trying to reacquire Kessel but I got a nice return for him since this is a Pittsburgh based league

If you don't make a deal, I'd say keep either Thornton or Marchand. Even though he's up there in years, Thornton has proven again he can still produce. I don't think veterans get enough love in keeper leagues. Also keep in mind that Marchand already has 25 goals.

Great time to trade Thornton FWIW - he was in my buy low sell high sportsnet column from yesterday (Dobber linked to it in today's ramblings)
