Getting Malkin....?

Hey all,

The Malkin GM sent a note to a group saying he is available.....Malkin is 9.5m next season in our league.
When I asked him what the asking price would be he said;

trochek
1st rounder (Which is now 2nd overall next year) * we are a year behind so next year is Mcdavid, Eichle, Larkin draft.
2nd Round Pick 15th overall

Is Malkin worth this anymore?
At 9.5m it scares me, plus trochek, plus both picks will cost me only 2.5 to sign the first year.

ANyhow, I told him too much, and he asked me what I would offer...he wants young players.

First, do I even want him?
second, what would you offer from my team?

How many keepers? I think the 'Multi year deal' designation on Price is confusing me. Is everyone else on your team gone after this year?

No dice. Pass. Eichel will be a franchise monster and he's 19. Even if you need to "settle" for Larkin, I still don't take the deal, especially with those salary implications.

Everyone else is on their last year of contracts, many, younger guys, are protected and i can sign if I want or let them go, others like Holtby, is entering an Offersheet period, where I could lose him to a huge offer.

Maybe a Tatar + 14th Overall?

I may be too protective over my young guys, but I think they are worthy of keeping instead of Malkin as I feel they can be stars, but I just don't want to be overlooking something...

If that's the case, I would not consider Malkin at all. Protect the kids.

I'm assuming you're in 13th place. Adding Malkin and mortgaging your future is not going to get you any closer to single digits, much less the championship.

If that were my team, my first and foremost priority is re-signing Holtby.
